NewView Laser Eye, Inc. opened its doors on November 15 th , 1999. The Business Plan was developed by Jacqueline D. Griffiths, M.D. and Darren Jones. Initially the plan was to provide only laser vision correction services to the greater Washington Metropolitan Area as the laser eye industry was growing in an exponential fashion at that time. It was determined that there was a void in a "more personalized doctor-run practice" that was more "patient focused" rather than "business-focused" in this area and hence "NewView" was born. It quickly became apparent that patients became bonded with Dr. Griffiths and her staff. They wanted to continue to have Dr. Griffiths provide them with their complete ophthalmic needs. At the same time, Dr. Griffiths longed to return to her roots in comprehensive ophthalmology so the Ophthalmic practice of Jacqueline D. Griffiths M.D., P.C. was developed and began to grow and flourish. The complement of the Ophthalmic Practice with the Laser Center offered a diverse set of services that answered the needs of the patients and their extended families by offering multiple services including advanced laser vision correction, conductive keratoplasty, modern no-stitch cataract surgery, glaucoma and diabetic exams, contact lenses, and even aesthetic services including eyelid rejuvenation surgery, Botox Cosmetic, Restylane, Radiesse, and Collagen injections. This model has proven to be a winning model and many other "laser only" centers are moving toward "full service" after witnessing the success of Dr. Griffiths and NewView.

In 2004, Dr. Griffiths saw a need to provide additional clinical care for her patients. After an exhaustive search, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Stacey E. Simms to our practice as the Clinical Director.
