Nisha Raman Patel, M.D.
Nisha Raman Patel, MD completed her undergraduate studies at Tufts University, where she was a recipient of the esteemed Hughes Research Fellowship. She went on to complete her medical education at St. George’s University. While in medical School, Dr. Patel served as President and Vice President of the American Medical Student Association and participated in various community service activities.
Dr. Patel completed her ophthalmology residency at the University at Buffalo. During her residency training, Dr. Patel initiated the International Ophthalmology elective program for residents and was the first resident to participate in a surgical and medical ophthalmology mission to Liberia, West Africa. She was also a recipient of the ARVO travel grant in 2004 for her work in high-intensity ultrasound exposure on ocular tissues, which she performed with Ronald Silverman, PhD and D Jackson Coleman, MD, PhD at Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
Following residency training, Dr. Patel went on to complete a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. As a fellow, Dr. Patel served as a co-investigator for the FDA trial on scleral expansion bands for the treatment of presbyopia. In addition to posters and presentations at ASCRS, the New York Keratorefractive Society and the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, she participated in a surgical and medical mission trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador with Healing the Children.
Dr. Patel is currently Board Eligible and an active member of the AAO, ASCRS, AMA and VSO. She is at the New View Eye Center where she sees patients with corneal afflictions, general ophthalmic conditions and refractive candidates.
Stacey E. Simms, O.D. - Clinical Director
After completing an undergraduate program in Biochemistry at Virginia Tech, Dr. Simms obtained her optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated Beta Sigma Kappa.
Dr. Simms serves as the Clinical Director, concentrating on comprehensive primary eye care, diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, and pre and post-operative refractive and laser surgery patient management. Dr. Simms specializes in all aspects of contact lens care, providing medical and therapeutic, as well as cosmetic contact lens services.
She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association. She has completed licensing requirements and received certification to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of Maryland.
