Did you know that Ophthalmologists have been using Botulinum Toxin since its Experimental Trials began in Florida in 1986? In 1989 the FDA approval signaled the use of Botulinum Toxin as a safe and effective treatment for use in the eyelids, eyebrows, and facial muscles for certain medical conditions. Ophthalmologists actually discovered its wrinkle reducing effects! Dr. Griffiths uses Botox cosmetically as well as medically in her practice.

Botox Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical, physician administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and crows feet on the side of the eyes in men and women from 18 to 65 years of age. One 10- minute treatment, a few injections, and within days there’s noticeable improvement in those persistent lines between the brows and on the sides of the eyes. Botox® Cosmetic is FDA approved and can last up to 4 months.

Dr. Griffiths will determine exactly where to administer the injections to achieve the best results. No anesthesia is required, although she may choose to numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream prior to injecting the Botox®. The entire procedure takes approximately ten minutes. Discomfort is minimal and brief. Most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. You may resume normal activity immediately.

You can expect to see results within days after your treatment. The appearance of the area between your brows and at the side of your eyes may continue to improve for up to a week.

By day 30 in a patient clinical study, 89% of patients judged the severity of their frown lines between their brows as moderate or better.

Visible results can last up to four months. After that, you may be ready to return for a follow-up treatments.

BOTOX® Cosmetic works by blocking nerve impulses, which reduces the movement of those muscles. With less movement, the skin surface gradually smoothes out and the moderate to severe lines begin to fade.
