How to Escape Springtime Allergy Misery

Spring is finally here – and that means spending more time enjoying the great outdoors with your loved ones.NewView-AllergyBlog

Of course, for millions of Americans, the arrival of the warmer months also heralds a season filled with sneezes, itching eyes, coughing, and congestion. We’re talking about springtime allergies – and they can certainly be debilitating for those who suffer from severe allergies.

Fortunately, there’s good news during this season of sneezes – there are steps you can take to reduce the impact that springtime allergies have on your eyes. Take a look at how to reduce your exposure to pollen, thus minimizing your suffering this spring:

  • Wear sunglasses whenever you’re outside. It may seem like such a small thing, but it can actually reduce your exposure to pollen, leading to a reduction in watery, itchy eyes.
  • Keep those windows closed! Those springtime breezes might be tempting, but opening your windows can invite pollen to come into your home. Keep your car and home windows closed to save yourself from springtime allergies.
  • Shower before going to bed so you don’t accidentally drag pollen into the sheets with you.
  • Remove your outer clothing as soon as you enter the house, as doing so minimizes the amount of pollen that you track into your home.
  • Keep track of the pollen count throughout the week. If possible, minimize the amount of time you spend outside on days when the pollen count is exceptionally high.

With the above techniques, you can make it through allergy season – and sail straight into summer!
