LASIK and Flexible Spending Accounts

Did you know that you can use your flexible spending account to pay for your LASIK/Epilase surgery?  These surgeries are considered “eligible” for your flexible spending accounts unlike plastic surgery.  This provides a great advantage for people.  Flexible spending accounts use pre-tax dollars to pay for certain medical procedures.  The savings from a tax standpiont can be worth several hundred dollars to you.

The fall is the time to choose your flexible spending allowances for next year.  You might consider going in for a laser vision consult before making that decision and perhaps even completing a full eye exam.  Consultations tell us with 95% assurity that you are a candidate for LASIK or Epilase.  The eye exam with dilation will rule out any organic processes going on in your eyes that could affect your candidacy.

Most Laser Centers fill up January and February slots before filling their fall slots with candidates using their flexible spending benefits which can be used after January 1st.  December slots are filled with people trying to use their flexible spending benefits before they expire and they lose that money they put away.
